A BOURBON TO SAVOR
Aged years longer than our original Jim Beam, this extra aged bourbon has a full-bodied taste with smooth caramel and warm oak notes. It takes on a unique flavor that's made to be sipped, savored, and shared. We're proud of this longer time in cask, and we're making a firm commitment to our drinkers to always age Jim Beam Black for those seven years.
What Makes Jim Beam Black Extra Aged
Something magical happens to the whiskey in its seventh year in cask. We call it the sweet spot, where an easy smoothness meets notes of caramel, vanilla, and warm oak, and the liquid turns into a rich gold.
This is the mellow whiskey you'll find in the 7 year aged Jim Beam Black. We're proud of this longer time in cask, and we're making a firm commitment to our drinkers to always age Jim Beam Black for those seven years. No shortcuts. No exceptions. Seven years, every barrel. Eight generations of bourbon family history and not one of them in a hurry.
Bourbon has to spend two years in a new charred oak barrel to earn its name. We give this premium bourbon whiskey one seven. Those extra years are the slow part of our bourbon process, where the char pulls out the oak, the vanilla and the caramel that our original bourbon doesn't have the years to build. That's the whole story behind extra aged bourbon. Time, and plenty of it.
Now at 90-proof, enjoy Jim Beam Black neat, on the rocks, or any way you damn please. Or a round of batched cocktails, made for the middle of the table.

Frequently Asked Questions About Jim Beam Black
Three more years in the barrel, and ten more proof points. Jim Beam Black is aged seven years to the original's four, and bottled at 90 proof instead of 80. Those extra years build a fuller body, with deeper caramel and oak than original Jim Beam has the time to develop. Same recipe. Same barrels. Longer wait.
Yes. It sits with Double Oak, Devil's Cut and Single Barrel in our premium bourbons range, and the seven-year age statement is what earns it the spot. Premium means more time in the barrel. Not a bottle you keep behind glass.
No. It's carried a few different numbers. Jim Beam Black went out for 101 Months in the 1970s, bottled at 90 proof. In 1978 it became double aged, with an eight-year statement. The proof drifted down to 86 over the decades that followed, and in 2015, when aged bourbon ran short across the whole industry, the number came off the label altogether. It went back on in 2024: seven years, and 90 proof again, right back where it started. That's the number we're keeping.
