Every town has a few bold people. Some have a whole population of boldness. Here are the results of our Boldest Towns in America poll. We surveyed more than 10,000 men in the top 100 cities nationwide to find out who's finding unique and sometimes unexpected ways to push the envelope. Whether it's switching careers, getting a tattoo, going to extremes to show team loyalty or calling in sick when you're juuuust fine, these towns make the boldest moves. Here are the top 25. 1. Spokane, WA
  • Nearly half of guys have gotten tattoos.
  • More than one in three guys have dated a friend’s ex.
  • 26 percent have arm-wrestled a stranger.
  • Nearly 3 out of 5 guys have left their job without another lined up.

  • Need for speed – nearly one in five guys have drag raced.

  • 30 percent of guys have “ink” and nearly a quarter of them have an animal or mythical creature tattoo.

  • One in four guys have grown a mustache to look older.
  • Nearly one in every five guys has started the wave at a sporting event.

  • Nearly half of all guys have dated a co-worker.
  • 44 percent of the guys have started their own business.

  • One in four guys have dated a friend’s ex.
  • Nearly one in three of the guys have impulsively moved to another city, state or country.
  • Nearly half of all guys in Wichita have asked a complete stranger out on a date.

  • One fourth of the guys have arm-wrestled a stranger.
  • 30 percent of the guys are willing to propose marriage in a public place.
  • One in four guys is willing to participate in a competitive eating contest.
16. Portland, OR
  • 81 percent of guys in Portland have grown a mustache.
  • Almost 60 percent of guys in Portland have called in sick when they weren’t.
  • Nearly three-quarters have done an anonymous good deed without taking credit for it.
  • 62 percent have made friends with a total stranger.
17. Fresno, CA
  • 81 percent of guys in Fresno have rocked a ‘stache. Most (42 percent) do it because it looks good.
  • 21 percent have participated in a drag race.
  • An ambitious 41 percent of Fresno guys have dated another coworker; 10 percent of them have dated their boss.
  • 37 percent have started their own business – surely overlapping with the 47 percent that have left jobs without another lined up.
18. Portland, ME
  • There may be something to living in a place called “Portland” – Portland, OR and ME finished 16th and 18th in the Boldest Town rankings.
  • A whopping 83 percent of Portland, ME guys have grown a mustache.
  • No hometown teams? No problem – 70 percent of Portland guys have hit the road with their favorite squad.
  • Some of those road trips may have been on weekdays - 66 percent of Portland guys have called in sick when they weren’t.
19. Chicago, IL
  • Half of the guys in Chicago have hit the road to follow their sports team.
  • 24 percent of guys in Chicago are pierced – 12 percent have it somewhere other than their ear.
  • Chicago guys are fearless with the ladies – eight in 10 have struck up a conversation with a complete stranger at a bar or restaurant.
  • 44 percent have dated a coworker.
20. New Orleans, LA
  • Nearly a quarter of the guys have shown support for their sports team by starting “the wave” at a game.
  • Nearly 80 percent have started a conversation with a stranger in a public place.
  • More than one third of the guys have had a romantic relationship with a friend’s ex.
21. Springfield, MO
  • 86 percent of guys have had a mustache and nearly 20 percent did it to look older.
  • A quarter of guys have broken up with their significant other publicly.
  • Nearly 15 percent of guys have a piercing someone other than their ear.

  • Nearly a quarter of guys have painted their face or chest to support their team.
  • 34 percent of guys have broken up with their girlfriend in public.

  • One in four guys have either started a cheer or the infamous wave at a sporting event.
